Scenes of chaos, pain, confusion and helplessness. Terror struck India's Mumbai megapolis July 11, 2006 and it struck hard.
I watched the clips published in the CNN website . The scenes of mangled metal and bodies being carried away was heart wrenching. What madness, what maverick heartless entity could have done this ?
Shame on them. Shame on whoever did this. Shame on their ideology (if any). If at all there is Judgement Day, these animals will pay.
As a concerned citizen of the republic, my heart goes out to my fellow countrymen.
Mother India, We shall overcome someday......

Esh i have pretty much given up hope. all we are going to get it some sermons from politicians , useless comitteess while culprits roam free and public will forget forgive and move on.
You need to deal terrorism with a firm hand. In the last 18 years or so when I have been following terrorism, I could only think of 3 political leaders who were able to deal with it with iron hand. It was Beant Singh - former Punjab CM, Jayalalitha, and George Bush.
When people start justifying the killing of innocent people by bringing in the cause and effect theory, they are actually helping the terrorism cause. In India, law and order is a state subject. Indian bureaucracy is also is very poor in the usage of technology. That is also impacting coming up with a holistic solution to this problem.
Unless you have leaders who are courageous and are not worried about the safety of their own life, it will be difficult to deal with terrorism.
Most of the terrorism stems from inferiority complex. In the fast moving globalized world, these low skilled or low self esteemed people, wanted to get attention by causing havoc to others. The media is making the big mistake of patronizing them by showing footage after footage about the terrorist attach.
Maybe the best treatment is to put these guys naked in Bronx or Vandaloor Zoo, and display images of the act of violence next to their cages. If human behave like animals, we need to treat them as animals. The humiliation that they will go through will inibit anyone of them to commit such form of violence. The current way of dealing with terrorist like life imprisionment or execution is not working as these things are not humiliating them. They are considered heros, and martyrs. They will no longer be a hero when they start living a jungle life with gorillas in a zoo.
Karthik
karthik,
guess you are getting a bit carried away in the heat of the moment..
i think you cant just denigrate folks who oppose you.. you can try reasoning... i am not really condoning their methods, but what i am saying is that.. you have to play a crucial part in reforming folks who feel neglected. you just cant say "when someone doesnt fit in, throw them" kind of logic.
i think such acts will continue to happen as long as the trouble-makers are left-alive(Beant(via Gill) or Jaya or Bush try to put down terrorism by breaking the backbone of militants.. you never know when these guys who were humiliated will comeback to give more pain to folks who denigrated to them... (what you give will always come back)).. or another way to deal with this problem is through reasoning. reasoning is really tough method to find a solution, while brutal force is an easy step towards finding a solution to the problem. i feel
"reasoning = normal path"
"power muscle = short cut"
any short cut is not devoid of pitfalls and after-effects. I think reasoning or dialogue will always work and truth is bound to triumph. as vito corleone would have said, we are all "reasonable people" out here.. guess, the solution should not be far off.. if people really use their heads..
Santhosh,
With whom can we reason with. You are dealing with a invisible element. There are so many reformed Kashmiri leaders who gave up violence, but did the violence stop? It is basically one replacing the other. I don't think brutal force like arial bombing will work as it will kill many innocent people as well. That is the reason why I am proposing the solution of humiliation. People who are thrown in zoo should be given due process. They should be convicted rather than be thrown there just on suspicion.
You can reason with only reasonable people, and not with insane people. If America or England had thought that one day we can convince Nazi Germany and not fought them, then millions more would have been killed. LTTE Prabakaran is the perfect example of why we can never expect a terrorist to reform.
Since 9-11, America has done so many pro-active things for their security and protected the mainland from attack. What has India done? We have been having attacks every couple of months. Do you think you wait till a few thousands get killed before we take any action?
Sancho...Karthik has a point.
Take the example of the US. They had 9/11. And they went all out against their enemies. And the result is they have not had an attack on the mainland since.
Contrast this with India. The earlier bombay blasts, Coimbatore blasts, Srinagar Blasts, Bangalore Blasts, Parliament attack, Akshardham attack, New Delhi Blasts, Varanasi blasts and now once again Mumbai Blasts.
All the while we have been practising restraint, reasoning, patience, non-violence, and all that you say we ought to do. The result, more killings and endless violence.
Now, tell me. What should we do. Should we try out some other option or should we continue walking down the present path.
I think the answer is quite obvious.
Eshwar/Karthik
You have a point, when you say 'we have to fight terrorism in our backyard'.
But it would be lot nicer if the folks who feel left-out(muslim minority in this case) could be integrated with the rest of the population, by introducing development in their community. Only if our politicians/bureaucrats/muslim community leaders could lay more stress on development projects, events like this would not have happened.
Sancho....I agree.
However, it is wrong to give the crime a muslim color since we dont give crime a hindu color if a hindu did it. We just treat it as a law and order problem.
But having said that, what surprises me is that some (repeat some) members of the minority community seem to think its OK to take foreign help to achieve their domestic goals, even if that were against the law of the land and the motherland's's interest and integrity.
I have not come across a member of the majority community doing the same nor even the christian minority.
This open call for support is disturbing and destabilizing to say the least. Something must be done about this, though care should be taken not to alienate the others who dont believe in such ideologies.
Anand..this does not prove anything. Folks were saying the same thing about the Taj Mahal.
We can go on about it in every religion. I suppose every religion has its own equivalent of the Da Vinci Code movie.
Why, there is no direct proof at all that Krishna or Rama existed. Its all hearsay and circumstancial. But if anyone said that too loud, then it could hurt hindu religious feelings.
Purely from historic point of view, these arguments and debates are only academic and dont serve much of a purpose.
So quit wasting your time pasting hate comments.
1. For all those who suffer against a tragedy called false religion,
2. Is Allah a Hindu Goddess??

How about this ? Moslems eat through mouth and see with their eyes. This is actually from the ancient tradition where hindus used to use their mouth for eating and used to use their eyes for seeing. Even in inscriptions found from 54000 B.C. this has been proved. Further Hindu king of Mohenjodaro also used his mouth to eat and eyes to see. This proves that Moslems actually have copied Hindus in everything.
