India was up for sale !?

I have been resisting comment on the flash revelations in the book "The World was Going our way" from the Mitrokhin Archives.

I wanted to write about it after I read the book. I bought the book last week but am yet to start on it though.

Anyways, I no longer could wait. The reason being the latest statement / request by the leader of the opposition to the Govt and Prime Minister asking them to institute an enquiry into the allegations. See below an extract from the letter :

The voluminous exposures, made in these KGB papers add up to an extremely disturbing scandal, calling for a comprehensive inquiry by a Supreme Court judge. Let the truth come out and if during the inestigations it is found that there was no basis for these allegations, then the government should encourage individuals to file defamation suits against the writer and publisher of the book who have sullied the image of India, giving the impression that India was on sale in the 1970s. The papers also claim that the KGB had even penetrated into the Intelligence Bureau and 10 officers of IB were on their payroll. Was this the kind of access they had to our administration system?

Given all our sceptisism to such enquiries, I am going to steer clear of it. My target are the communists who have time and again been caught having extra-territorial affiliations ! For them leaning on the so called US side of foreign policy is anti-national but to side with the Soviet or Chinese side of foreign policy is in the best national interest. What a bunch of low-life morons.

Here below in an extract from the reaction to Advani's statement on the Mitrokhin revelations :

"...slanderous and baseless...He has no other issue to raise for the people of the country...I pity Advani. He is crestfallen in his organisation and is trying to beat a dead horse by which is not going to gain anything"

First, we dont know if the allegations are baseless or not. We have to find out.
Second, it does not matter if the BJP is in disarray or not. The issue still remains.
Third, they should try to address the question at hand about the allegations rather than find motives behind Advani's statement.
Fourth, if they can waste tax payers money to appoint a commission to go around and find out if Subash Chandra Bose is alive or not, they sure can appoint a retired judge to probe these allegations.

I have never understood India's left. They always talk as if they are India's consciouns keepers, the Guardians of everything that makes India. Whenever I see leaders like Harkishen Singh Surjeet and Sitaram Yetchury on Television, I squirm in my seat. What a bunch of characters.

Anyways, if India was up for sale in the 1970's and if we were indeed a "client state" of the former Soviet Union, these guys have a lot of answering to do. We have no bloody business looking at Pakistan with a smug look on our faces whenever a US delegation visits them.

And we jolly well ask the left to shut its mouth when it points finger at the ManMohan Singh govt, over the US-India Nuclear deal and Iran issue.

Which brings me to one of our Former PM's (Deve Gowda or PVN, not sure) statement about the Sangh Parivar and its political outfit the BJP - "The only crime you can accuse them of is Over-Patriotism".

If these allegations are proved, Congress and CPI have a lot of things to answer...

I really hate this questioning the questioner than answering the question logic! It happens in all professions, but when it comes in newspapers it makes up a pathetic reading!
I think no one is an exception to such behaviour whether it is BJP/INC/CPM bosses! All are pathetic in their reasoning style. I am sure none of these folks will clear even a basic reasoning exams(analytical ones in particular)!

I think most western country-democracies have this radical-centrist-leftist(read socialist) factions who vie for power(in US it is radical versus leftists(read socialists)! So, in India whether we want it or not, this is a reality i.e we have listen to all the fools from radical(read BJP), centrist(read INC) and leftists(read CPM).

The problem with each one of them is that they refuse to see the logic of the other, but busy mudslinging the opponents!

eshwar- well said. The Cong nor the CPM has any decent answer to the Mitrokhin revelation - stuff that they thought was possibly buried forever. And neither will they ever answer..this issus will die a slow death like countless others before this. You shd read the Mitrokhin-I. It is very interesting!!

anandkumar, while your anger at the communists is not unwarranted, neither the RSS nor any outfit for that matter any better. Sangh sidelined with Samata party - a socalist party - and appointed Fernandez their convenor to form a government.. - politics is strategy and oppurtunitism and will remain that way.
your conspiracy world theory is hopeless..-maybe if you start living in such a world, you'd never ever be happy/satisfied at all!

Anandkumar... for once I agree with your hatred for the commi's in India. Oh ! what a bunch of loosers.

Ganesh...dont expect anything like that from them.

Sancho...so you say that we are stuck with the 3 shades. hmm...not very encouraging.

Siva...thanks.

eshwar the left is an easy target everywhere..why doesnt no one blame tony blair 4 being a proxy ambassador 4d bush administration in uk and 4 being a shameless chamcha?leftists all over the world have stood up and we will continue 2 stand up against evil regimes.left is not equal 2 china or former ussr lovers...of course some leftists are also supporters of those regimes.just like there are ppl in usa supporting bush.left = pro ppl..narmada bachao andolan and medha pathkar, arundathi roy, michael moore...any where u go leftists are the voices of sanity.ppl like mr.surjeet call themselves leftists for their convenience.insult them all u want man.but dont make a sweeping genaralisation which misrepresents all of us who have leftist leanings.i tht of making this an anonymous comment.but i decided that i must take responsibility for what i am saying and also trust that u wont take this personally.cheers!

siddharth...your comments are welcome and appreciated. I do understand your point of view. But let me reiterate that opposing the united states cannot be a single point agenda. Similar to appeasing and kissing up to the ex-ussr was earlier, for the left. I personally dont have any love lost for any of those countries but I sure know which side of my bread is buttered and so should my country's managers.

nobody is doing anybody a favour, its give and take. As much as u gave to the US when supporting the iaea resolutions againts iran, you get nuclear technology from them. Its like u scratch my back and I scratch yours. Its simple and it works (most of the time).

If I indulge in the same kind of mudslinging exercise with you about RSS or others, I would be putting myself to shame and I would prove no better. So let me refrain myself from doing that. For as much you have not understood communism, you dont seem to have understood your favorite hinduism either.

Your inquisitive brain and abundant energy are heavily wasted on negative thoughts and nothing constructive can come out of it. Just like you, most of the people who comment/write in these spaces are Hindus. Most of them are devout, staunch and religious hindus. And many of us believe in doing good for everyone. I, for one, do not subscribe to your highly negative crusade attitude as that is not what my religion has taught me and that is not what I believe in.

If RSS helped during tsunami I welcome that. If they kill Gandhi, I oppose that. If Christian missionaries build schools to educate masses I welcome that and support that. If they organize a military campaign to kill a faith,I oppose that. Similarly if communists bring labor welfare - I vouch for that. If they do mass exterminations - I oppose that... - for Iam a Hindu- and my religion has taught me to live, love and cooperate. As it is repeatedly said - Hinduism is not (just) a religion. It is a way of life. Iam extremely proud of it and I will not keep finding causes to shun, badmouth or create a hatred towards people of other faiths. I will believe in symbiosis to survive.

As a rebuttal, I would just like to reiterate what I said earlier - if you believe that everything in the world is a conspiracy and that the whole world is against you/your faiths, then there will be nothing much left to live for.... Live and let live. Dont be so negative.

Your negative thoughts dont affect just you, but it affects the goodwill of all Hindus throughout the world. If you really like to do a crusade, do it positively. Dont run a campaign by hatred. It doesnt succeed in politics or in real life.

In India, we hold on to certain things long after the world has moved on. Communism is one of those.

Siva, i liked the way you framed your response. The message was LOUD & CLEAR & i hope it reached the audience it was intended.

"It is better to light a candle than curse darkness".
