The Chinese Parliament (National People's Congress) has passed a law (March 14, 2005) that authorizes the use of military force to prevent any move by Taiwan to attain independence.
The Indian Parliament passed a resolution on February 22, 1994 , affirming that the state of Jammu and Kashmir is and shall be an integral part of India.
China is late by 10 yrs. India passed such a resolution 10 yrs back. But thats perhaps only where India leads China.
It was a unanimous resolution. Though a parliamentary resolution is not binding like that of a law, it still carries weight. Its a resolution backed and adopted by the supreme law making body of the land of India.
But alas ! Does anyone take it seriously. Today when China passes such a resolution, it hits the headlines. Because nobody, not even the United States, believes that China is bullshitting. When she growls, it means she means business.
Ten years have passed since the Indian Parliament passed its resolution and nothing has changed. Not even an inch. A stark reality, that India still has soft and non-delineated borders more than 50 years after independence.
Thank heavens that southern India is surrounded by water, else god alone knows what would have happened to a borderless country.
Nobody believes that 20 years from now, Taiwan would still be independent. Its just a matter of time when China takes over the reigns in Taiwan. After which its anybody's guess where her next attention will turn to ?
Its always a case of thus far but no further with India. Why is she so hesitant ? Why is she so diffident ?
Do any of us believe that India would be able to implement the Parliamentary resolution of Feb, 1994 ?
Is'nt the answer obvious or is it ??

If there is even a slight mention of this resolution in Indian press, I will not be surprised to see NATO allies making a big fuss of it accusing India of disrupting peace in South Asia region....
Americans would prefer Foo Yong and not Chilli Pakora...
Dear Raghavan....its more the case of foo yong being stuffed down their throat than being served.
